Today was the last meeting of the Patchin' People, the Pullman quilt guild I joined last month, until September. They don't meet through the summer. I'm actually quite sad about this, as I really enjoyed these guild meetings. Oh, well. Nothing I can do about it. I took in two quilts - one was my Easter quickie (of which I have not yet posted a picture), and another I can't talk about. Both quilts were a hit. Today was also the guild's annual spring luncheon. I was mis/un-informed about the time of this event, however, so my Chinese noodle salad, Adam and I showed up an hour late. We managed to scarf some food down during the business meeting. I'll know better next time.
Our second (cotton) anniversary is coming up, and we got a box last week from Mike's parents full of bathtowels, washcloths, oven mitts, and other cotton goodies to celebrate. It was a very sweet, thoughtful thing to do. Speaking of anniversaries, today is their 46th. Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad!!! We love you!! (Your grandson says "lalalalalala".)
Adam has been talking and singing lately. The lyrics to the songs are quite simple - they go something like this: "La ra ra la la ba la ra ba la la ra" and repeat. And repeat. And repeat. Actually it's quite cute, and we try to coax him to do it every chance we get. He's also displaying a fondness for climbing things, which is exciting but frightening. Mostly we just stand there and watch ready to pounce while he climbs. We don't want to inhibit his explorative impulses, but we also don't want to have to rush him to the hospital to get stitches in his head. Of such dilemmas are parenting made.
Ummm what else? Oh, yeah! I'm having a quilt retreat at my house next week!! As you may recall, I was quite pregnant the last time I went to a quilt retreat, and I was informed that I was not to come back with a baby in tow (as if!). I was quite hurt at this snub, so Mike suggested I host my own here, and invite the girls from my mailing list. So I am!!! There are going to be 5 other women besides me - 2 from Idaho, 2 from Oregon, and 1 from Alberta, Canada! We're going to have a blast, and I can hardly wait!! We're also going to have a tea/luncheon that Saturday. Mike's going to do all the cooking, which (besides the company) is probably the biggest "draw". lol
I'm still working on revising the book I did 2 years ago. I'm over halfway done with my initial revision of the chapters, which is a good thing because I'm going to largely put it aside for the next two weeks (Mike's folks are stopping by after the retreat on their way to the east coast). I'm way, way ahead of schedule, so it's ok. Cresta and Denise, two mommies from La Leche League (in fact, we call ourselves "The Mommies") are coming here Wednesday to help me get the house clean.
Ummm what else else? I got a haircut. I cut 6 inches off the back, got bangs, and got layers. I love it. Everyone says it makes me look younger. Whether or not that's the truth is another question, but it's nice to hear. ;) Adam still needs a haircut, but that ranks among the world's most difficult tasks, so I'm putting it off.
I know there's tons more, but that's enough for now. Time to go tuck this baby and myself into bed. Have a wonderful week, everybody.
