If you want to know what kind of day we're having, look at today's Farm Lessons.
OK, so it's been forever! Well, I tried to make up for lost time - there's new stuff all over the place. I would list it all, but it's basically the whole site. Just take a look around.
Let's see... well, we got the chickens in. They're a little over two weeks old, and we haven't lost anybody yet. They had their first yard walk today. Mike let them out for about 15 minutes. About a third of them went out. The rest stayed under the brooder. We'll slowly introduce them to the notion of being able to come and go as they please.
The llamas arrive Wednesday. We finally got the fencing put up, although we do have just a bit more flagging to do, so they won't run into the barbed wire. Danny's fine - she's been allowed to roam into the neighboring pasture while we wait for the llamas. I think she's enjoying the distraction. Her only other big news is that she's in love. It's amazing, if you've never seen a horse flirt. She arches her neck and tosses her head and canters about and makes all MANNER of noise. The object of her affection? Our neighbor's combine.
The garden's doing well. The zucchini are in, so it'll be coming at us in buckets now. Tomatoes are still ripening fast enough that we haven't bought a tomato in weeks. Greens and lettuces still doing well. Mike gets a fresh salad from it just about every day. The peas and beans aren't doing all that well, but you can't ALWAYS win, right?
I've been quilting up a storm. Just take a look at the new quilting page. I've also started a new tech-edit. I doubt it'll last more than a month, though. Mike finally finished the VB/ADO book he was working on, so now he's on to a SQL book and the revision of ADH (Access Developer's Handbook) and editing for MCP. He's also started building things for me to put into the craft booth (which is doing pitifully, I might add) like mirrors and shelves. He goes to Spokane tomorrow to take some certification exams. I'll probably stay home and quilt. Or, the way things have been going, he could be home by the time I wake up!
