Now that you know how to make beautiful paper piecings to adorn your scrapbook pages, you might be wondering where you can find patterns to make them. The short answer is: everywhere! Inspiration for paper piecings can come from coloring books, greeting card artwork, clipart, paintings, drawings, cartoon characters, or virtually any other source. Anything that can be drawn can - with enough skill and patience - be paper-pieced.
There are also several pattern books specifically meant for scrapbookers. My personal favorites are published by Hot Off the Press:
Last, but certainly not least, is the Internet. Several websites have been established just to share paper piecing patterns with other paper crafters. Some require you to pay - either for each individual pattern, or for a monthly or yearly membership. Others offer their patterns free of charge, perhaps with a voluntary "tip jar" or donation button. You can find a great many of these listed at Scraplink. Another great source for free paper-piecing patterns is Scrap That Smile. If you're looking for a particular pattern - for a teddy bear, for example - try doing a search at Google.com for "free paper piecing teddy bear" without the quotation marks.
TIP: If you are using a pattern from a published work - whether it was originally intended for scrapbooking or not - pay special attention to the item's copyright. Many will say that you cannot reproduce the item at all, and others may stipulate that you cannot use the pattern to make a product for sale. Make sure you comply with the copyrightholder's wishes and the law. |
Visit the Scraplink list and browse through a few of the sites. Bookmark any sites that pique your interest.
