Roadside Crosses: A Kathryn Dance Novel
by Jeffery Deaver
Date Reviewed: July 12, 2010
I am hesitant to admit this, because I do love me some Jeffery Deaver, but this book was b-o-r-i-n-g. Kathryn Dance is a great character, but this book just lacked momentum. I couldn’t find myself giving much of a damn about any of the characters except Dance herself.
The story hinges (as do all of Deaver’s novels) on everything being revealed at the last possible moment by some unforeseen twist of the plot. While I didn’t really see the end coming, I didn’t care, either. I was so over the whole story, I just wanted it finished.
The one bright spot is that it looks like Kathryn might be getting a love interest that ISN’T her married sometime-co-worker. So there’s hope for the series, yet!
