Wednesday was a big day for Adam and me. We went to Moscow, Idaho to do some shopping with Denise (my friend from La Leche League) and her daughter Ellie. First we went to Joann’s. Not finding what we wanted there, we went to Michael’s, next door. I got some embroidery floss organizer bags, fabric stamp pad, and a couple of other things. Denise got a headband for Ellie, who is 10 months old and is going to “do” Halloween. Then we went to Wal-mart. I got more shelves, including a couple that are 6 feet tall. Still haven’t assembled any of them yet, but I will. After Wal-mart, we went to her house in Pullman to chat for awhile before our LLL meeting, where I gave an “enrichment meeting” talk about the LLL conference I went to a couple of weeks ago. Quilter's Quest

Adam and I went on an adventure today, to Spokane. We went in search of some elusive fabric, of which I need enough to make one more 12" block, or I’ll have to remake four squares (long, boring story). We went to the quilt show and nagged all of the vendors there who had any similar fabrics. Alas, to no avail. We did get some nice pictures of quilts, though, and saw a few of Adam’s “aunts”. On the way to Spokane, I saw a peacock. It was trying to cross I-195 (the highway north from Pullman to Spokane) and just barely avoided getting hit at least twice. On the way back home, on the road from St. John to Endicott, I saw a raccoon. It was toddling along the side of the road. About 50 yards farther down the road, I saw a fox. Strange. Must be the day for unusual animals.

While in Spokane, I went to Hancock Fabrics to buy some polyester batting. I almost never use poly-batting, so I didn’t have any around. Then we went to the mall to shop f...

New Wiring Finished

Yesterday was Adam’s two-month checkup, and my post-natal check as well. Both of us were pronounced healthy. Adam weighed in at fourteen pounds nine ounces (gulp!), and is now 25 1/2 inches long. He’s off of both growth charts. :) He also got his first three immunizations – HiB, polio, and DPT. He was asleep when he got his shots, and it was a terrible way to wake up, but he was back asleep in fairly short order. He was feverish and fussy yesterday afternoon, but was more or less back to his normal self by bedtime.

The electricians finally finished putting in the outlets and the exhaust fan today, so Mike spent the better part of the day moving all of the computers up to the office and arranging them on shelving. It was a big job, but it looks really nice now. Much nicer than cables hanging all over the house, that’s for sure.

Adam has hit another growth spurt. This is exhausting because it means he’s nursing all the time. All I got done was one appliquee block and a little fabric shop-hopping.

Adam is two months old today. Pretty amazing. In some ways it seems like his birth just happened, and in others it seems like he’s been a part of our family forever.

We’ve been going through hay faster than we anticipated (partly because we’ve had those damned boarding horses much longer than we expected) so we’ll have to have more for the winter. Knowing this, I called Fritz Coon, our “hay guy”, and ordered another stack. It should get here some time next week. Fritz is a nice guy. Last time we had hay delivered, I was very, very pregnant, and he speculated on delivering late in the week rather than early, to maximize his chances of seeing “the little guy”. This time, he asked whether we had our happy, healthy baby (we do) and seemed excited at the thought of seeing him. I think Fritz likes babies.

The local electrical company started putting in new outlets today. We don’t have enough outlets upstairs for all the computers we use, so we needed more. They made a tremendous noise, and woke Adam up several times from his various naps. But it’s a must-do thing. They got here around 9 in the morning and left at about 5. I finally got the Whitman Samplers website updated while that was going on.

After that, Adam and I headed into town for the guild meeting. It was pretty dull, but pretty short, too. On the way home, I saw the darnedest thing! I was turning off the road and onto our driveway when I saw a bunny! It looked like a juvenile bunny, and not too bright, as it took it awhile to decide to hop off of the driveway. Neither Mike nor I have seen rabbits here, so it was remarkable. I have no idea if they’re indigenous, or if some kid let his pet bunny get loose. I wonder if we’ll see it again..?

It’s been a busy few weeks. I didn’t realize how long it had been since I updated this website, though. One of the side effects of being a parent is an absence of “free” time. That can be really frustrating, especially for someone like me, who generally has lots and lots (read – too many) irons in the fire. I’m going to have to learn to scale back, or I’ll drive myself (and Mike) batty.

We got back from the LLL conference yesterday. It was a blast, although the drive was pretty daunting. It was held in Bellingham, which is about 90 minutes due north of Seattle. This meant a 6-hour drive both Friday and Monday for us. Adam’s a great infant traveler, though; he slept the whole way, waking up at stops for nursing and a diaper change, and then falling back asleep within 30 minutes of getting back on the highway.
