Adam and I went into Moscow Saturday to do some shopping. First, we went to Staples and got a folding table for me to use for cutting fabric and a filing box for bank statements. Then we drove over to Joann’s, but the lines were unreal, so we left and went to Wal-Mart. Bought lots of stuff for Christmas there, including some more lights and wrapping paper and stuff.
Today we ran most of our regular errands in Colfax, then we all drove over to Lewiston, ID for family/Christmas photos. It was lots of fun, and Adam is a ham and a half in front of the camera. Then we drove back to Colfax to do our grocery shopping and came on home.
Adam has been teething lately, which is uncomfortable for all of us. Poor baby, it hurts him, which makes him cry and fuss inconsolably. That really wears you down after awhile, so we pass him back and forth a lot. There’s nothing you can do to make it better but to be there, w...

Today we go into town again. I have an appointment to get my hair cut at 2:15. I don’t think I’m going to cut it as short as I did last time (see pics on the Quilt Camp page); I’ll probably cut off four or five inches. It’s gotten to the point where I’m lying on it when I sleep, which pulls and is uncomfortable. And that, I’m sure, is far more than you wanted to know about my hair. LOL
Friday, Adam and I drove over to Moscow to do some shopping. First, we made a stop at the hospital to make Adam’s next doctor’s appointment, and to visit our friends, the nurses. Dori, the nurse we see most often, was there and she took Adam and started off down the hall to weigh him. Adam has never had a problem being taken by anyone, and for awhile he was ok with Dori. But at some point, he realized he hadn’t seen me or heard my voice in a few min...

Well, I did it. I pumped my first 2 oz. of breastmilk. I got to the point where I was too worried about what would happen to Adam if I ever had to have surgery and couldn’t nurse, or got put on antibiotics, or (God forbid) died – I just didn’t want my baby stuck with yucky formula. So I bought a Medela Pump-in-Style from Little Koala. I know I may not be able to pump enough to keep him completely on breastmilk if any of these things happen, but I can keep him on it as long as possible. One thing I learned is that I don’t need the “small-to-medium nipple” insert. A word of caution – if you’re a new pumper, and get the same style pump – try to pump with the large nipple shields FIRST – I got a tiny cut on the bottom of my areola, and it was because of the insert. <THUD!! The sound of my mother-in-law fainting from embarrassment about me talking about my nipples on the Int...

I decided to skip this month’s guild meeting because it’s snowing here and the visibility yesterday was really bad. I also didn’t relish the idea of driving on icy roads in the black of night with an infant in tow. I was a little depressed, because I finally had something to show-and-tell – I made a table runner for Mike’s mom. I’ll upload a picture of it soon. Oh, well, I guess this just means I should send it to her.
Nothing much else to report. It’s cold here. I’m cranky today. I’ll stop here.

Some days you ought to just stay in bed. Which I tried to do, but Adam insisted we wake up. If you’ve ever raised a baby, you know how they “insist” on something. He was cranky, which made me cranky. He got over it; I didn’t. I’m still cranky. Adam has taken to getting these 5-minute power naps (PN). He’ll take a PN, then wake up and want to be played with. Then in the middle of it, he’ll have a PN. Then he’ll wake up wet. Then hungry. Then a PN. Just when you try to lay him down to sleep so you can get something done, he wakes up, revved up and ready to go again. It’s exhausting.
Mike’s had an even worse day. Started with a wet diaper, then a dead turkey, then a misbehaving dog, then escaped chickens, then a dead Exchange server. I’m sure there’s more, but on our bad days we try not to irritate each other with talking, so I don’t know what else has happened to him today. I’m sure I̵...
